FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mercer Island, Washington, March 22, 2017 — Local retailer and long-time community stalwart Island Books announced today that they have entered into a strategic business partnership with Mercer Island’s only locally owned and operated original news source, The Mercer Island Distorter.

“As a business that traffics in both fiction and non-fiction publications, we have natural synergy with The Distorter’s fact-adjacent journalism,” said Laurie Raisys, Chief Book Dominatrix of Island Books. “We believe that with the support of Island Books, The Mercer Island Distorter will eventually become a quality publication.”

“We wanted to partner with the local bookstore that contributes the most to the Mercer Island community. Unfortunately, Amazon.com wouldn’t return our calls,” said Letitia Snugbottom, Publisher-in-Chief of The Mercer Island Distorter.

As part of the agreement, Island Books is now the exclusive retail outlet for the print edition of The Distorter, and will sponsor The Distorter’s upcoming First Annual Open House. Financial terms were not disclosed.
