The Mercer Island High School Dressage team narrowly defeated Bellevue High School to end the season with a perfect 1-0 record. Team captain Macarney deCaballo electrified the crowd of three with a flawless performance, effortlessly leading her horse, “Justice Scalian”, from piaffe through passage, ending with a flawless half-pass and tempis. Her score of 9.5 earned a standing ovation from the three in attendance, and Bellevue simply could not overcome the deficit.
From here they advance to the state finals where they face Bellevue High School (0-1). “Bellevue is always our toughest competitor,” said deCaballo after the match, “They always show up ready to ride their dainty, prissy best.”
